1,3-BAC

Product Features

Excellent Weather Resistance (UV Resistance) & Transparency
1,3-BAC is a cycloaliphatic diamine, and its cured product has high transparency and excellent weather resistance with little yellowing when exposed to UV light.
Cost Reduction: Low Active Hydrogen Equivalent Weight
Compared to other cycloaliphatic amines, 1,3-BAC has a smaller molecular weight and a lower active hydrogen equivalent. The amount of 1,3-BAC in the formulation can be reduced up to 20%, leading to cost reduction.
Ideal for preventing construction defects during winter and rainy season
1,3-BAC is fast curing and has good low-temperature curing properties, making it possible to apply it even in winter. It has good appearance and water spot resistance under hot and humid conditions, and can be used in conditions where construction defects are likely to occur during the rainy season.

Main Applications

Used in various applications where excellent weather resistance and transparency are required.

  • Flooring materials
1,3-BAC has fast curing and good water spot resistance, making it suitable as an epoxy curing agent for flooring applications. In addition, the cured product has excellent weatherability, which helps prevent yellowing.
  • Marble coating
1,3-BAC's fast curing, excellent weatherability, high hardness, and high Tg make it suitable as an epoxy curing agent for marble coating applications.
  • Sealants
1,3-BAC is widely used in epoxy resin curing agent applications for decorative purposes because of its fast curing, low viscosity, and excellent weather resistance of cured products.
  • Composite materials, FRP
1,3-BAC is suitable for HP-RTM applications due to its fast curing and high Tg, which speeds up the production cycle. In addition, its excellent weather resistance can contribute to process reduction by eliminating the need for an extra layer of protective coating.

Prevention of winter construction defects

1,3-BAC cures faster than a typical cycloaliphatic amine, even at low temperatures/high humidity. Therefore, 1,3-BAC cures quickly even during wintertime installation. In addition, 1,3-BAC does not freeze even at low temperatures in winter, eliminating the need for heating, thereby simplifying the process and reducing energy consumption.

Measures against construction defects during the rainy season

1,3-BAC has good appearance and water spot resistance even under hot and humid conditions, and it exhibits excellent curing properties even in conditions prone to construction defects during the rainy season.

Cost Savings: Low Active Hydrogen Equivalent

Compared to other cycloaliphatic amines, 1,3-BAC has a lower molecular weight and therefore also features a lower active hydrogen equivalent. This means that the amount of 1,3-BAC compounded with epoxy resin can be reduced by about 20%, leading to cost reductions.
