NIKANOL AM-6000
NIKANOL AM-6000 can be used as an additive, especially an emulsifier, for water-based products.

The AM series is available as a non-ionic emulsifier. The lineup includes two grades, AM-2000 and AM-6000, with different average HLB values.
These emulsifiers are wax-like solids at room temperature, but become transparent liquids when heated to about 80℃.

AM-6000 can be used as an emulsifier for epoxy resins.
Emulsions of solid epoxy resins for which forced emulsification is difficult were prepared using the composition/operating procedures shown here, and various evaluations were conducted.

Emulsifiers from other manufacturers that have a proven track record in this application are also listed.
AM-6000 provides excellent results with regard to the properties of the various emulsions produced, particularly with regard to particle size, which is an indicator of the state of dispersion.

This is the result of long-term stability of each emulsions.
AM-6000 shows a good property of emulusion stability than the other product, and a reduction in the amount of additives can be expected.

Evaluation of cured coatings prepared with a commercially available aqueous amine hardener was conducted. An example of the formulation is shown below.
CR-97:Ishihara Sangyo Co., TIPAQUE
Disper BYK-190:BYK Co.
AQ-530S:Kusumoto Kasei Co., Dispalon

A comparative evaluation of self-made emulsions and commercially available solid epoxy emulsion have been performed.
Coatings with AM-6000 added, the water in the paint drained out faster and the increase in surface hardness was improved.

One of the features of AM-6000 is the improved chemical resistance of the cured coatings.
While using other products cause chemical burns by 0.5% sulfuric acid solution, a significant improvement has been confirmed in the coatings using AM-6000.

For 10% sodium hydroxide solution, we have also confirmed that the coatings using AM-6000 retains adhesion to the substrate.

Coatings with AM-6000 exhibit good corrosion resistance in a 5% salt spray test.
AM-6000 is expected to improve chemical resistance and adhesion without significantly reducing water resistance.
